Climate: Warm temperate

Description: A small erect perennial herb with corms.  

Leaves: narrow – linear with thickened edges, a prominent mid-rib.

Flower: Solitary on a peduncle, surrounded by 2 small often membranous bracts with sharp tips. Petals 6 with a pink to rosy purple in colour

Stems: Stiff and erect coming to an apex

Roots: Bulbous root system, root store foods for the plant.

Control: Hand weed at the first sign of weed. When infestation is to large to practically hand weed then chemical control is required. There are numerous chemicals available to control this weed and they should be available at your local plant nursery. The application requirements are varied for each different turf variety.  Be sure to read the entire chemical label for example, directions for safe use, handling, the application rate.
