Creeping Mallow

Origin: South America

Climate: Warm temperate  

Description: Creeping soft wooded perennial groundcover, light green in colour with lobed leaves.

Leaves: Small to medium, cut margins or lobed like grape leaves, shiny green in colour.

Flowers: Small open cup like flowers with reddish pink petals that arise from the junction of the leaf and the main stem.

Stems: Wiry and fibrous, glossy green.

Roots: Deeply strong tap root system from very stoloniferous stems and root at the node. The node is a very distinctive knob on the bottom of the stem.  

Control: Hand weed at the first sign of weed. When infestation is to large to practically hand weed then chemical control is required. There are numerous chemicals available to control this weed and they should be available at your local plant nursery. The application requirements are varied for each different turf variety.  Be sure to read the entire chemical label for example, directions for safe use, handling, the application rate.
