Spring Fungal Problems
Spring heralds the growth of a new season but it is not just the plants in a garden that welcome warmer weather. A large number of pests and diseases also take advantage of the increasing temperatures and associated rise in humidity to their advantage.
Fungal problems are common place in September/October with the soft new growth of a wide variety of plants such as roses, annuals and vegetables being commonly affected.
The more common diseases in the garden at this time of year can easily be controlled if the symptoms are recognised in the early stages of infestation.
Powdery Mildew: a fungal disease that attacks a wide variety of ornamentals,
Rust: Another common fungus that is easily recognised by the raised orange
Azalea Petal Blight: A fungal disease that attacks Azalea spp and cultivars.
