Pruning

The pruning of plants is a task that conceptualises sweat, cuts, jabs and the like, to your skin as you go about trying to remove that old and unwanted plant material. The practice of pruning comes in many different shapes and forms. Pruning can assist the plants to produce and develop to their full and proper potential.

As displayed in Figure 1, the secateurs should be placed for cutting above the node. The node should be protected from damage from either the tools or yourself.  In Figure 2, the cut should be clean, concise and be at an angle as to allow for water run-off. This will help the plant heal the wound quickly and neatly, thus helping prevent possible entry of fungal diseases.
